Are you ready to become a Care Bridges Public Health Ambassador?

As a public health ambassador, you’ll have the opportunity to improve the wellbeing of asylum seekers and refugees in Montreal as a leader, an advocate, a learner and a researcher. The ambassadorship program provides a unique opportunity to improve your clinical and research skills while directly impacting the lives of the families we work with.

Please note: This program is only open to medical students enrolled in a Quebec University. Med-P students or those from other programs who are not registered with the CMQ are not eligible. 

What is a Public Health Ambassador?

Along with other public health ambassadors, you will:

  • Participate in one-on-one virtual patient interviews with asylum seekers to complete a comprehensive assessment of their medical, psychological and social health 

  • Provide asylum seekers with individualized referrals for services and resources based on their identified needs

  • Foster and strengthen relationships with community partners involved in our mission

  • Collaborate with other ambassadors on research and/or quality improvement projects to empirically investigate social determinants of health, program efficacy, and opportunities for improvements in health navigation

 

Responsibilities:

  • Engage in two health navigation sessions with asylum seekers per month 

  • Serve as co-author on one research/QI project - be involved in data collection, management, analysis and synthesis

  • Complete bimonthly updates report

  • Attend ambassador summit meetings (2-3/ year)

  • Undergo training session (1 hour, virtual) and sign confidentiality agreement

Should your application be accepted, you will be contacted by a member of our team in order to proceed with next steps (signing a confidentiality form, scheduling a virtual training session and discussing your program research engagement).
